Mottoapp uses cookies and similar device storage for sign-in, security and the preferences you request. Accepting the Terms or acknowledging the Privacy Policy is not consent to advertising or analytics tracking.

Storage used by the application

• Sign-in and security: existing tester sign-in is provided through ChatGPT and the hosting platform. Their session and security cookie names and lifetimes depend on those providers. The email sign-in uses secure HttpOnly session cookies named __Host-motto-auth, potentially split into numbered parts, plus an authentication code-verifier cookie. These are persistent login cookies, not necessarily cookies that disappear when the browser closes. The authentication library currently uses a default maximum cookie age of 400 days, which may be renewed when cookies are refreshed. This is a storage limit, not a guarantee of 400 days of account access: token validity, revocation and browser rules apply separately. The library may also create code-verifier and pending-flow cookie variants for a sign-in you request; these use its persistence defaults unless removed by completion or cleanup. Signing out clears the app session cookies handled by Mottoapp on this device. Cookies on Google, ChatGPT or other provider domains are managed separately by those providers.
• Verification flow: the email sign-in uses __Host-motto-flow for a browser-bound sign-in attempt. Its expiry is ten minutes and it is cleared when the attempt completes or the session is cleared.
• Colour theme: mottoapp-colour-theme and account-specific keys beginning mottoapp-colour-theme: in local storage remember colour choices. Account-specific keys include an internal account identifier and Rider, Explorer or Business mode; they are not anonymous. It has no automatic expiry in the current implementation and remains until changed or cleared. It is not an advertising identifier.
• Larger text: motto-easier-reading stores the display option you select on this device until you change it or clear site storage.
• Business claim draft: motto-business-claim in session storage temporarily retains the business details and ownership-verification message you submit when sign-in is needed. Drafts are restored only within 30 minutes and are cleared on the next visit if expired, or on successful submission; your browser normally removes session storage when the tab session ends. Avoid sensitive information in the verification message.
• Device alerts: a service worker and browser push subscription support alerts you enable. Permission can be withdrawn in browser settings or through “Turn off on this device” in Mottoapp. Turning off alerts removes this device’s registered subscription from Mottoapp.

Advertising and analytics

Mottoapp’s current application code does not add advertising pixels, session replay or third-party analytics SDKs. Business activity is counted on the server. A source review and a limited live check of the landing and sign-in pages on 24 October 2026 found only Mottoapp-hosted scripts on those pages. This does not establish what every provider does. A complete cookie and network audit, including HttpOnly cookies, email and Google sign-in completion, renewal and sign-out, has not yet been completed. Provider-added storage must also be assessed as part of the current early-access review; free testing does not remove applicable cookie or data-protection duties. We will not enable non-essential tracking in the app without the appropriate prior choices and information.

Your choices

You can clear this site’s cookies and local storage through your browser’s site settings. This may sign you out and reset your colour theme and larger-text preference. Blocking necessary storage can prevent sign-in. Browser location and notification permissions are separate settings; you can revoke them at any time.

If non-essential tracking is introduced, it will require a separate consent process with a refusal choice and a way to change the choice. You do not have to accept advertising tracking as a condition of participating in testing.
